In the past, when making all-porcelain crowns, a laboratory technician relied on a dental impression to fabricate the restoration off site. However, in many cases, Dr. Holiman uses our CEREC CAD/CAM technology to digitally design crowns or onlays, mill them onsite, and permanently place them - all in a single visit. This means that you won't have to wear a temporary crown, and you won't need separate dental visits for preparation and placement.
CEREC incorporates 3D imaging technology and computer-aided manufacturing with a compact, in-office milling unit. Each CEREC crown is crafted from a strong CEREC block made of esthetic porcelain. This particular porcelain is considered to be the closest to human enamel in the way that it wears, expands and contracts at the same rate as tooth structure. The shade of the porcelain block chosen will match your existing teeth, so your new CEREC restoration will blend seamlessly in your smile.
